History & all that jazz about GOA!

Goa is the smallest state of India. Goa was ruled for centuries by a varied ensemble of Indian rulers, then landed the Portuguese in the early 16th century as merchants, and conquered it soon thereafter. The Portuguese overseas territory existed for about 450 years, until it was annexed by India in 1961. During their occupation, the Portuguese converted a majority of people in Goa to Christianity. And there were a lot of Portuguese who stayed back and generations still reside in Goa.

Goa's state language is Konkani, although locals are fluent with English, Hindi, Marathi & Konkani.

It is divided into South & North prominently with the following tehsils:

- BICHOLIM (Bicholim)
- SATARI (Valpoi)
